The Senior Accountant is responsible for overseeing general accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining compliance with accounting standards, and supporting financial decision-making. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and experience managing complex accounting processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Manage general ledger activities, including journal entries and account reconciliations
- Ensure compliance with GAAP (or IFRS) and internal accounting policies
- Lead month-end and year-end closing processes
- Analyze financial data and provide insights to management
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities
- Coordinate and support internal and external audits
- Monitor and maintain internal controls to ensure accuracy and compliance
- Review and approve work prepared by junior accounting staff
- Identify process improvements and implement best practices
- Ensure timely filing of tax reports and compliance with regulations
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 4-7+ years of accounting experience (public or corporate)
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting standards
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks) and Excel
- Experience with ERP systems is a plus
